1. 생략현상

 

# 1. 같은 자음이 겹치면 하나만 발음한다 

1. Is this seat taken? 
2. Would you like coffee or tea? 
3. O.K. Thank you. I'll call later. 
4. Will you be free this Sunday? 
5. It's worth thousands of dollars. 
6. Would you give me a cold drink? 
7. Please go upstairs with this bag. 
8. Would you like to have beef for breakfast? 

 

 

 

 # 2. 두개 자음의 발음이 같거나 비슷하면 나중에 나온 하나만 발음한다 

1. Was she on time? 
2.What do you want to have for dinner? 
3. Where did you move from? 
4. He was with three students. 
5. Both students were late for class. 
6. It's a myth that we already know. 
7. Don't jump back, please. There's a car abehind you. 
8. How many months are you going to stay ahere? 
9. It's half past eight. 
10. Five babies were playing in the room. 


# 3. sts, sks, ths와 같은 연속발음의 발음은 sts의 [t], sks의 [k], ths의 [th]는 거의 탈락하고

     [s]를 길고,강하게 발음 

1. Your desk's in the way 
2. That costs too much. 
3. She asks too many questions. 
4. I gave it to him two months ago. 
5. This fruit tastes sweet. 
6. He was better last summer. 
7. Math's my strongest subject. 
8. It's for guests only. 
9. Three fourths of a gallon would do. 
10. The movie lasts two hours. 

 

# 4. [d]의 다음에 [b], [m], [n], [t], [th]음이 연결되면 [d]의 발음은 생략

1. She made me happy. 
2. I had to go home early today. 
3. Good bye. 
4. I had a bad time there. 
5. You should not have done that. 
6. Did they finish the work? 
7. What bad thing did the little boy do? 
8. Go straight and you'll find the building. 
9. We found the key under the bed. 
10. They said that he was going to be here soon.

 

# 5. [t] 다음에 [b], [d], [g], [l], [m], [n], [r], [w], [th]음이 연결되면 [t]는 생략 

1. Fasten your seat belt, please. 
2. What do you want me to do? 
3. It's not going to happen overnight. 
4. You might lose a good chance. 
5. She might not have made a reservation. 
6. Get rid of that. 
7. It was done too fast. 
8. I'll meet them in the lobby.

# 6. h로 시작되는 he, his, her, him의 첫소리 [h]는 대개 생략

3. What is he going to do? 
4. I can't help falling in love with her. 
5. Did she buy his pants on sale? 
6. It's in his car. 
7. Pick her up on your way home. 
8. Put him on the phone right now. 
9. Please leave her alone. 
10. I'll call him back at home tonight. 

 

# 7. [nt]로 끝난 단어의 [t]는 발음을 생략해야 자연스럽다.

1. I won't complain again.  
2. I want some water. 
3. Tom went fishing but I went boating. 
4. Let's get to the point. 
5. I have a very important meeting this afternoon. 
6. Don't make a noise. 
7. It doesn't matter. Don't worry about it. 
8. I haven't got any money to buy that bag. 
9. You can't count from one to ten yet. 
10. He had a car accident yesterday. 

 

# 8. [nd]로 끝난 단어의 끝소리 [d]를 생략하는 것이 자연스럽다 

1. I like to watch TV on the weekend. 
2. Sometimes I play cards with my friends. 
3. It rained hard all day. 
4. The image of diamond is 'never changing'. 
5. There's love between grandma and agrandchildren. 
6. How much is a round trip ticket. 
7. You mean you can undrestand me. 
8. Would you mind showing me the way to the aCity Hall? 
9. The question is beyond my ability. 
10. Have you ever tried Italian sandwich? 

 

# 9. 마지막 자음이 [b], [d], [g], [k], [p], [t]는 생략 

1. He made a mistake. 
2. He did a good job. 
3. What's it about? 
4. The party was great. 
5. They just got up. 
6. Here's my card. 
7. That size is too big. 
8. Just a little bit. 
9. We'll take a cab. 
10. I got mad when my dog chewed my shoes.
